(January 5, 2009):SAE NYC has added Native Instruments Komplete 5 Software Bundle to its student computer package. All students attending the Audio Technology Program receive a computer and a suite of programs (for more info click here). Komplete 5 consists of 11 first-class NI products, including samplers, synthesizers, classic emulations and a virtual guitar studio. |

(January 5, 2009):An analog mastering rack has been added to the SAE NYC Mastering Pro Tools Suite. Featuring a Neve 8816 summing mixer, a stereo compressor/limiter, stereo EQ and Lavry converters, the new rack allows students to utilize an analog as well as a digital path for their mastering projects. |

(December 12, 2008):SAE NYC hosted 2 school wide Final Cut Pro workshops given by Nika Offenbac. Ms. Offenbac, partner and Co-Creative Director of CTRL, a boutique motion graphics and post production studio in New York City, introduced the students to Final Cut Pro's functionality, especially targeting its audio capabilities. |

(November 21st, 2008):Members of ATP0408FT (Audio Technology Program April 2008, Full Time Class) visited the legendary Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village and toured the facility which has just recently installed a Neve 88R console in Studio C. They were hosted by and given the tour by SAE NYC alumni, Julian Joy. |

(October 31st, 2008):With students assistanting and observing, Paul Wickliffe steered the Nathan Eklund Band through a day of recording in SAE’s studios A & D. Using the Neve 88R console and a ProTools HD rig, the band recorded a CDs worth of material.

(October 24th, 2008):Jeffery Fowler and Josh Fielsta from Native Instruments joined us to demonstrate the many programs of the Komplete 5 bundle. Several lucky students received copies of Komplete or the Massive software synth. Also, KORE2, an upgrade of the Native Instruments hardware control surface was introduced. |

(October 8th, 2008):The second in our series of Production workshops is planned for Oct. 31st when Paul Wickliffe will be engineering/ producing a jazz session featuring trumpeter Nathan Eklund. The band will consist of Nathan Eklund-trumpet & flugelhorn, Craig Yaremko-saxophones, Steve Myerson-Fender rhodes, Kellen Harrison-bass, and Shawn Baltazor-drums. |

(September 26th, 2008):SAE NYC hosted and B&H organized a “Tools of the Trade” workshop for all SAE students including the newest class ATP0908FT that was at SAE for their orientation. There were many products to examine as there were reps from B&H (featuring Euphonix products) Sennheiser & Neumann mics, Dangerous 2 Buss, sE mics, Auralex acoustic treatments, Digidesign, LaCie hard drives, KRK speakers, Eventide, and Macrosonic Music. There was also food, drink and a raffle. Among the items given away were gift cards from B&H, a LaCie 250gig Rugged Drive and a pair of KRK Rokit G2 2 way active monitors. |

(September 12th, 2008):ATP0108FT travelled to Greenwich Village for a tour and soundcheck at Le Poisson Rouge a new venue at the former site of the historic Village Gate. Tech Coordinator Josh Loar (an SAE alumni) and Assist. Tech Director Anna Ehl gave the class a tour and then all observed as Josh ran through 3 sound checks in preparation for the night's shows. |

SAE NYC has installed a Digidesign ICON D-Control ES in it's surround room. Featuring a Pro Tools HD system and Blue Sky 5.1 monitoring, the surround room is equipped for both surround music and video mixing. |

SAE NYC has been designated an official Ableton Certified Training Center. |

(August 24, 2008):A Yamaha 02R96 digital console has been installed in Control Room 3. The 02R is a staple at many post houses and recording studios in the New York City area. |

(August 22nd, 2008):Peter Kehoe from Vintage King and Eric Eldredge of SSL teamed up to demonstrate some fantastic gear at SAE for all our students, alumni and some industry professionals. On display were the new SSL Matrix console /controller with some Xlogic outboard. In addition there were VacRac stereo compressor, an A Designs Audio HM2EQ Hammer EQ and an API 500 lunchbox rack loaded with API & other modules. Featured monitors were models: ProAc Studio 100 and Barefoot MM27. |

(August 15th, 2008):Students of SAE New York visited Sterling Sound on Friday August 15th. Mastering Engineer Leon Zervos (graduate of SAE Sydney, Australia) mastered the song "Berlin Rose" which was the result of the Jack Douglas / Jay Messina workshop of July 25-26. Students got to observe Leon's techniques and try their hands at the controls. Questions were answered by Leon and head tech Barry Wolifson. The visit finished with an extensive tour of Stering Sound's impressive facilities. |

(June 13th, 2008):Walter Gemeinhardt and John Colangelo of Demon Drums, Hoboken New Jersey, held several workshops on Friday June 13th for SAE students and alumni. As drum makers and techs, Walter and John walked students through drum construction methods, tuning a kit and preparing it for recording as well as emparting 20 years of tips and tricks to improve drum sounds. Demon Drum clients include; Alice in Chains, Bon Jovi, The Hold Steady, Breaking Benjamin and John Mellencamp. |

(May 30th, 2008):Legendary producer/engineer team Jack Douglas and Jay Messina are coming to SAE NY for a 2-day production/recording/mixing workshop in July 2008. Jack and Jay worked together with such notable artists as Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Patti Smith, and Supertramp. |

(February 11th, 2008): Warren Russel Smith, a 2005 graduate of the SAE NYC Audio Technology Program, was awarded a Grammy Sunday for his engineering work on The Live Wire - Woody Guthrie In Performance 1949. Warren is an engineer at Magic Shop Studios in New York City. |

(February 8th, 2008):Omid Burgin, internationally respected acoustician, gave a lecture on control room design in a workshop open to the entire NYC SAE student body, Many interested students from all classes attended. |

(October 15th, 2007):SAE, NYC hosted a NARIP event, the ART OF THE MUSIC DEAL. The negotiating session featured attorneys Jim Cooperman and David Ehrlich and artist manager Rachel Cox. SAE student representatives and NARIP members were treated to mock negotiations which revealed the complex issues that make up the modern entertainment business contract. |

(September 24th, 2007):APPLE LOGIC STUDIO NOW INCLUDED SAE is excited to announce that students enrolling in the Audio Technology Program in SAE's U.S. campuses will now receive Apple's newly released Logic Studio as part of SAE's Ultimate Studio Package. (November 3rd, 2006):PRODUCER/ENGINEER JAY MESSINA HOSTS ANOTHER STUDENT WORKSHOP Jay Messina reprises his August 11th seminar with our ATP0406FT class. His broad experience in engineering and production spans decades. He initially brought his expertise to a production workshop for our January class, demonstrating his approach to production on a very acoustic project done entirely in Pro Tools as well as sharing tips while mixing a rock song on our Neve 88R console. The job of Studio Manager was explored with the participation of guests; Barry BonGiovi (former mamager of The Power Station, Hit Factory, Right Track Studios NYC), Kate Laracuenta (manager of Water Music, Hoboken NJ & SAE graduate) , and Ryan Schimmenti (former manager of Hot Sounds NYC 7 & SAE graduate). Each panelist shared his/her experiences in the business as well as answering questions from the floor. |

(August 4th, 2006): SAE NY LAUNCHES NEW CAREER WORKSHOP SERIESFirst in a series of Career Workshops, 'So you want to be a producer?' was hosted by Dave O'Donnell and Steve Pageot. Eight time Grammy Award winning engineer/producer Dave O'Donnell has worked with artists such as, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, Bee Gees, Tina Turner, and James Taylor. Steve Pageot has worked with Krayzie Bone, New Edition, and has won a Grammy Award for his work with Aretha Franklin. Together they answered questions, primarily about the career aspects of being a music producer. |

(June 6-8th, 2006):SAE NY HOSTS M-AUDIO SAE NY hosted a training session for M-Audio which included a roll-out of new products such as the new Sputnik Tube Microphone. Students had their own presentation, and M-Audio products are available at a discount for SAE students on our student web portal. |

(July 11th, 2006):CHRIS SHAW MUSIC PRODUCTION WORKSHOP Chris Shaw, fresh from producing Bob Dylan's new CD "Modern Times" brought production insights to our September 05 class. Comfortable in both the analog and digital worlds, Chris impressed our students with his production and engineering style, which incorporates both old and new school recording techniques. His credits include: Bob Dylan, Wilco, Super Furry Animals, Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, Public Enemy, Ween, Cheap Trick, and Santana. |

(June 23rd-25th, 2006): SAE NY hosts REMIX HOTEL NYC 2006 Remix Magazine, SAE NYC and partners returned to the Big Apple for three days of technology master classes, workshops, panels, seminars and clinics about music production and performance for electronic- and urban-music producers, engineers, musicians, fans and DJs. Remix Hotel offered exposure to and training on the hottest products available for the production and performance markets. students were able to purchase Audio Equipment and Software at exclusively discounted prices through SAE's various industry parterships. In order

(February, 2006): Producer/Engineer John Siket (Dave Matthews Band, Sonic Youth, Phish, Moe, Vertical Horizon, Soul Asylum, Travis ...) has returned for a demonstration of his exceptional mixing skills. His impressive list of credits includes work with Steve Lillywhite, Butch Vig, and Don Was. In his mixing class, John discussed his unique approach to the mixing process with students of the Audio Technology Program in SAE NY's Neve 88R studio, going in detail through the entire mixdown of a song. |

In a surprise move Dr Tom Misner, President and Founder of the multi-national SAE Group, announced today the acquisition of the world's leading console manufacturer AMS Neve. Tom, an audio technologist, visionary & educator in the music field has maintained a very strong industry association and has been a user of Neve consoles for the past 30 years. SAE Institute will now be providing through its network in over 45 colleges in 20 countries AMS Neve broadcast/music/film and post seminars for past and new clients.
